Hidden on the southern slopes of Pelion, almost untouched by time, the village of Pinakates is still a very unexplored area. It wasn't until the late 1990s that a road was built from neighboring Vyzitsa to Pinakates which until then was only accessible on foot or by mule. Probably, for this reason, Pinakates is not only the least known among the villages of Pelion, but it is also the best preserved village in the region.

Just 20 km from the capital of the Volos region and a short walk from the villages of Vyzitsa and Milies, Pinakates are located 320 meters above sea level with a wonderful view of the Pagasitic Gulf and spectacular sunsets. From the village square with the marble fountain of 1894, a cobbled path leads down the mountain to Kala Nera beach. It used to be the main route for people and goods between Pinakates, the village of Kala Nera and the sea. In the summer the Pinakates enjoy the cool mountain breeze and in the winter there is nothing more pleasant than cuddling up in front of the fireplace with the sea and snow as far as the eye can see.
